VirtualRehab debuts at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine

 

Virtualware has signed a distribution agreement for VirtualRehab with Nihon Binary, a leading technology company in Japan. Established in 1979, Nihon Binary supplies advanced imaging and graphics peripheral devices and software to meet customer needs in the academic, research, medical imaging and industrial market.

VirtualRehab has already been translated into Japanese and will be formally launched by Nihon Binary in Japan at the “51st Annual Meeting of The Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine” which is being celebrated between the 5th and the 7th of June in Nagoya.

This distribution agreement for Japan is a new milestone within the internationalization strategy of Virtualware which started in 2010. VirtualRehab is currently available through Virtuualware offices and partners in the UK, Spain, Canada, USA, Chile, Argentina and the United Arab Emirates, as well as through partners in Russia, Hong Kong, Panama, and other countries.

VirtualRehab is a clinically validated cloud-based videogame platform that complements physical rehabilitation therapies. It uses the motion capture technology of the Microsoft® Kinect to turn the user into the star of the video game. Patients interact with the system in a 3D gaming environment.

VirtualRehab has been designed to improve the Quality of Life of patients suffering from Neurodegenerative diseases, Neuromuscular disorders, Neurovascular disorders and even to help Mobility for the elderly

A study presented at the 8th world Conference on Neurorehabilitation in Istanbul, showed the validity and effectiveness of VirtualRehab as a therapy tool. VirtualRehab has also been validated by the Spanish Neurology Society (SEN).

Up to now, users of VirtualRehab have logged more than 6500 game sessions, and more than 650 hours played, showing its steady adoption since its launch.
